Meet Our October DSP of the Month

Congratulations to Frazer’s Direct Support Professional of the Month for October, Megan Kennerly!

October DSP of the Month Megan Kennerly (L) with Tahmina, Adult Program participant

Megan has been a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with the Frazer Center for almost four years. She brings to her work an array of qualifications, but perhaps her greatest gift is her ability to make connections. Megan finds ways to communicate with each individual she works with, whether that person primarily communicates verbally or non-verbally. She gets to know them, their interests, abilities, and dreams, then seeks ways to engage each individual in the community.

“Megan exemplifies what’s expected of a DSP in this new era of community integration,” says Adult Program Director Bill Payne. She nurtures relationships with local businesses and organizations in order to create meaningful opportunities for the adults she works with. One such place is the nearby public library. Megan frequently brings participants there for classes and other scheduled programming. When the library closed temporarily for renovations, the librarian came to Frazer to continue offering services, thanks to the relationship that Megan had forged.

Qualifying criteria for becoming DSP of the Month includes professionalism, person-centered planning, quality community outings, thorough documentation, attendance, and general work ethic. Megan fits the bill and then some, going above and beyond for the adults she works with. She is present, dependable, and motivated from the heart to help enrich the lives of those she serves. We are grateful to have Megan on the Frazer team!
