City Nature Challenge 2020

ATLANTA CITY NATURE CHALLENGE
Friday, April 24–Monday, April 27, 2020

What started as a friendly competition between San Francisco and Los Angeles has grown into an international event to see which city can document the most species of plants, animals, and fungi found in nature using the iNaturalist app.

Led locally by Fernbank Museum, Atlanta joined the competition last year, with multiple partners participating throughout the city, including Frazer.

This year, due to the pandemic, City Nature Challenge is still happening but there is no competition. Individuals are encouraged to participate from their own yard and neighborhood while maintaining social distancing.*

TO PARTICIPATE:

  • Download the iNaturalist app to your phone.
  • During the four-day challenge, go out into nature and make observations of flora and fauna.
  • Photograph observations.
  • Upload photos to iNaturalist. (This can be done back at home.)

THAT'S IT!

Observations made in Frazer Forest will help us gather data and better understand the biodiversity within our old-growth eco-system.

*Please adhere to social distancing guidelines from the CDC and local health officials.
