On July 15th, we celebrated Developmental Disability Professionals Day, established in 2020 by the National Association for Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Specialists (N.A.Q.).
Frazer’s Developmental Disabilities Professionals (DDPs) provide oversight of the services that each adult participant receives. They monitor health and safety practices, and ensure that services are person-centered and customized for each individual. While our Direct Support Professionals are responsible for the daily activities and engagement of our participants, our Developmental Disabilities Professionals make sure that the team is in compliance with each individual’s support plan and goals.
DDPs usually have a Bachelor of Social Work or Human Services degree, and can receive more professional development through the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
“We cannot operate without our DDPs,” says Unondus Walker, Director of Adult Services. “Each one brings something different to the table, and each one plays a vital role in our operations.”
Frazer Center has four DDPs:
- Brittany Price is Frazer’s Program Coordinator and oversees Community Access (Group) services.
- Shelita Brumfield is our Employment Specialist and oversees Frazer’s job coaches.
- Lee Bouie oversees volunteer opportunities for our adult participants.
- Robin Armond oversees Community Access (Individual) services.
BIG THANKS to these amazing and essential professionals!
