Meet Our New Development Director, Tonja Holder

Tonja Holder, Development Director

Frazer Center is thrilled to have Tonja Holder joining the team as Development Director. Tonja brings a wealth of experience to the table as well as a passion for service in the nonprofit sector. “All of my nonprofit work is about creating equality and justice for people who are underserved,” she says.

Tonja grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. She has a Bachelors in Global Studies and Spanish, and a Masters in Political Science. She moved to Atlanta in the early ‘90s to attend Emory University where she did her post-graduate work in political science with an emphasis in civil and human rights and international relations. She has worked as a community-level organizer and advocate in Georgia, Florida, Michigan, and New Hampshire.

Tonja’s career began in the private sector, but it wasn’t long before she made a conscious shift into the nonprofit sector. Her fundraising efforts have impacted such organizations as Georgia Equality, Dekalb Rape Crisis Center, and Sheltering Arms. It was during her tenure at Sheltering Arms that she first met Frazer CEO Paige McKay Kubik who was Vice President of Development and Communication at Sheltering Arms at the time. Paige says, “During our three years working together at Sheltering Arms, Tonja’s bone-deep passion for our work translated into compelling messaging and concrete, disciplined implementation of fundraising strategies that exponentially increased the number of individual donors to our organization. I’m absolutely thrilled to have her on the Frazer team!”

Tonja is excited to be working in the disabilities arena. “I have fallen head-over-heels in love with our adult participants. They truly are the light of the day here. I’m really honored and grateful to get to work at such an amazing, unique place and to spend my day with the people and families that come through these doors. I hope that my efforts at Frazer can help move the organization to even higher levels.”

When not at Frazer, Tonja loves being at home with her wife, Satyam Barakoti. Together they founded a consulting company that helps nonprofits increase visibility, resources, and revenue. Satyam continues to run Durga Consulting, and she and Tonja both enjoy adventures with their 5-year-old daughter, Annapurna.
