Our friends at Trees Atlanta have a wonderful opportunity for teens looking for summer employment. And this summer, Frazer Forest was a beneficiary of this amazing program. 

The Trees Atlanta Youth Tree Team program is not just a way to earn a paycheck. It is designed to educate teens about urban forestry and expose them to possible career fields that they may not have ever considered. 

The 2022 Youth Tree Team included fifty high school students who worked on projects in several of Atlanta’s urban forests. While at Frazer, the Youth Tree Team helped fulfill some of the requirements outlined in the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) grant that Trees Atlanta received in partnership with Frazer. 

Frazer Forest projects included: 

• completing surveys of all plants in the several forest zones; 

• categorizing plants and compiling fun facts about native species; 

• finding, measuring, and estimating the age of champion trees in Frazer Forest; and

• brainstorming ideas for educational signage in the forest.

We are always grateful for our partnership with Trees Atlanta and their dedicated stewardship of our precious old-growth forest. And this year we are especially grateful for the Youth Tree Team who shared their time, energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for Frazer Forest.
